Blue In this book I have used a technique that is new to me to
create the images, that of pochoir or stencilling. Using a stencil
brush to apply the paint means it can be done with a minimum amount of
water, producing intense and vibrant colours, without wetting the paper
too much.
QUALICUM BLUE is a Limited Edition of thirty copies, signed and
numbered. Two books in one, bound dos à dos (back to back) in blue goatskin,
comprising the text and a gallery of pochoir illustrations. The text
explores the growing popularity and historical connections of the colour blue, and
its cultural associations and meanings. The Blue Gallery contains seven
pochoir illustrations of blue birds, plants, insects and fish,
alternated with descriptions of them, found in the vicinity of Qualicum
Beach, Vancouver Island. Text letterpress printed from polymer plates,
covers fastened with bronze salmon-shaped toggles, in slipcase. Price
